You are most cordially welcome to take part in Sholokhov's Readings, the international literary workshops devoted to Mikhail Sholokhov's heritage. The workshop "Sholokhov in Education (Secondary and Higher): Concepts and Methodology" is scheduled for May, 2002; and the workshop "Sholokhov's Individuality in Home and World Literatures" is scheduled for May, 2005 and is dedicated to the 100th anniversary of M. Sholokhov's birthday. Both workshops' sessions will be held in Rostov-on-Don and M. Sholokhov's picturesque birthplace, Vioshenskaya village. You are welcome to join our workshops with reports on topics of .our preference within the general trend of the workshops.
          The workshops are organized by the Rostov State University's Department of 20th Century Home Literature and the State Museum of Mikhail Sholokhov. The programme for both workshops includes participation in the annual literary festival Sholokhov's Spring and offers opportunities for report publication in symposia on different topics under the general title "Sholokhov's Readings".
          We hope to attract attention of researchers of literature who share our opinion of M. Sholokhov's realistic style as of a sample of genuine high-quality literature in spite of the numerous censurers who are apt to underestimate Sholokhov's literary merits and label his style as socialistic realism. Nevertheless, we are tolerant to all kinds of opinions and welcome researchers with various viewpoints on the workshops' subject.
          Your applications for the earlier workshop of May, 2002 are expected to the following address - Sholokhov's Readings workshop committee. Faculty of Philology and Journalistics of the Rostov State University, Pushkinskaya street, 150, Rostov-on-Don, 344006, Russia - till February 2002. Applications for the workshop of May, 2005 are welcome to the same address till the 31st December, 2004. Applying before the deadline will allow us to include your report into the workshop programme leaflets which will be sent out together with the individual invitations to the applicants 2-3 months before the workshop starting date.
          We also consider the possibility of publishing reports or report abstracts of applicants who will not be able to attend the workshops personally but apply to be published and send their reports/abstracts written in or translated into Russian together with the application to the Sholokhovs' Readings workshop committee before the deadline.
          We do not fund any expenses involved in the workshops.
          We hope to find generous response and encourage all interested researches to join us for a fruitful work.
