THE FACULTY OF PSYCHOLOGY was established in 1993. It provides training in psychology and nursing. The faculty employing 2 Doctors of Science and 15 Candidates of Science comprises 3 departments: the Department of Social and Individual Psychology; the Department of Psychophysiology and Developmental Psychology and the Department of Theoretical and Applied Methods in Psychology.
Basic and applied research in the promising fields of science, social science and humanities is being done both in the departments of the University of Rostov and in all of its research units.
A.B.KOGAN RESEARCH INSTITUTE OF NEUROCYBERNETICS was founded in 1972. The Institute research staff comprises 106 researchers including 7 Doctors of Science and 50 Candidates of Science. Staff members are engaged in the research in the , following fields:
- neurobiology-physiological, morphological and behavioral studies of neural systems;
- neuroinformatics-designing neuron-like systems and devices for information processing and control problems in natural neural systems;
- psychophysiology-studying the neural basis of human and animal brain functional states;
- biomedical engineering-designing software and hardware intended for medical, biological and psychophysiological research.
The works of the Institute cover a wide range of problems from those on molecular and cellular levels via neural ensembles and brain subsystems to those dealing with the integral organisation of nervous systems including the application of created knowledge in medicine and technology.
าอล RESEARCH INSTITUTE OF PHYSICAL AND ORGANIC CHEMISTRY was founded tn 1971. Research staff of 198 members includes 20 Doctors of Science and 104 Candidates of Science. Some of the main directions of the Institute research are as follows:
- the synthesis and research on photochemically active structures for an information recording system and for transformers of renewable sources of raw materials and energy:
- the synthesis, structure, physical and chemical characteristics and research on reaction capasity of organic, natural and coordinate compounds, modelling biologically important processes and objects;
- the directed synthesis and complex study of synthetic and modified natural physiologically active sub stances for obtaining original medicines;
- the search for and study of effective organic photochromic and luminisceni compounds.
